Former business reporter to lead television station

Former financial editor at The Gleaner, Al Edwards, is the new chief executive officer (CEO) of CVM Television.

The announcement was made yesterday by Michael Lee-Chin, chairman of the board of CVM Television.

Edwards is to take up the post on May 15.

He started his professional career in Jamaica in 2000 when he was appointed senior financial reporter before being promoted to the post of financial editor.

After The Gleaner, he moved to the Jamaica Observer, where he was the editor of the Caribbean Business Report.

"Al Edwards is a widely respected media professional in Jamaica, the Caribbean and internationally and is regarded as one of Jamaica's most prominent business editors," said Lee-Chin.

"Al's experience, garnered both overseas and in Jamaica, will prove invaluable in enhancing and growing CVM Television's position as a leading Jamaica media company, both locally and internationally," added Lee-Chin.
