Boss Bedding for dreamy nights
Keisha Hill, Gleaner Writer
Are you sleeping well at nights? You sleep for eight hours and when you wake up each morning you are still lethargic and have just about knocked the alarm clock off the bedside table. Perhaps the reason for your dilemma is that it's time to change your mattress.
Yes, make a switch to bedding that is designed to bring the greatest comfort and durability. With raised eyebrows, you think there is no way you can afford a new one now. Jamaican-owned-and-operated bedding, furniture and polyurethane foam manufacturer, Boss Furniture Limited, designs mattresses and bases with the knowledge that a great night's sleep is essential for a healthy lifestyle.
When Boss Furniture Limited began its operations in 1990, its vision was to improve the quality of products, and it started by manufacturing living room suites. However, the company has expanded its inventory from the production of upholstery to bedding and, more recently, polyurethane foam. According to Omar Azan, chief executive officer, the company was importing finished foam for the production line. However, after assessing the overhead costs associated with this practice, it invested in a state-of-the-art computerised foam-manufacturing facility.
"To ship foam is very expensive because it is bulky. It's basically taking up air. We decided to reduce its importation and produce it here. This move has provided jobs for about 35 persons, revenue for the country and reduced the need for us to purchase foreign exchange," Azan said.
Largest foam producer
Boss Furniture Limited is the largest foam producer, in terms of volume, and not only supplies its own operations, but other furniture and bedding manufacturers islandwide.
"We produce foam bed, and spring beds, which include tight-top mattresses, pillow-top and euro-top mattresses. We also manufacture foam and fibre-filled pillows. Also, we provide mattresses for jails, school dormitories and anti-bacterial and anti-microbial beds for hospitals," Azan said.
Persons who travel around the Caribbean, might have seen the Boss Furniture logo in other Caribbean islands except Trinidad and Tobago. Plus, if you need to reupholster your old sofas, Boss Furniture is offers that service too.
"We increase the input of finished product that creates jobs and foreign exchange earning," Azan said.
Products manufactured by Boss are available at Courts Jamaica Limited.
