  • Suspect charged in Hanna murder case

Detectives from the Major Investigation Task Force have charged one man in connection with last year's murder of businessman Joseph Hanna.

Dwight Robinson, otherwise called 'Pumpkin', of a Jones Town address was charged late last week after ballistics tests proved that a gun he had in his possession was the one used to kill Hanna.

  • Two killed in shoot-out

Two persons were fatally shot and a police service vehicle shot up by gunmen near Riverton City in the Corporate Area yesterday. Reports are that members of a police team were driving along Spanish Town Road and stumbled on the gunmen just as they had opened fire on a group of persons. The criminals turned their weapons on the police while making their escape.

  • Woman's body found in Havendale pit

Up to late yesterday, investigators were still on a scene in Havendale, St Andrew, where the body of a woman was found in a pit. It is believed the body is that of a resident who was reported missing for over a month. Investigators suspect that she was murdered and her body dumped in the pit.

  • Spalding High student stabbed

A Spalding High School student was in critical condition in hospital yesterday after she was stabbed repeatedly by a 13-year-old student from another high school in Manchester last Friday.

The injured student was yesterday transferred from the Percy Junor Hospital to the Mandeville Regional Hospital. The attacker has been taken into custody by the police.
