BRITISH AIRWAYS

Going to the Summer Olympics later this year? Read this one carefully!

Hand Baggage: One piece of hand baggage plus a laptop or handbag. A 23kg (51lb) maximum bag weight applies and you must be able to lift the bag unaided into the overhead lockers.

Your main piece of hand baggage is up to the dimensions 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22" x 18" x 10"), including the handle, pockets and wheels and your bag must fit into the bag gauge, available at the check-in area.

Your laptop or handbag is up to the dimensions 45cm x 36cm x 20cm (18" x 14" x 8"), including the handle and pockets and your laptop or handbag must fit under the seat in front of you.

Checked Baggage: British Airways gives a free baggage allowance, which will vary depending on the class of travel and ticket type. You can take extra bags with you for a charge and save money when you pay online before you fly. Any bag that is heavier than the free weight allowance may incur an overweight baggage charge, payable at check-in.

If booked on flights other than British Airways, baggage allowance may differ from the British Airways allowances shown. The maximum dimensions of the bag are 90cm x 75cm x 43cm (35.5" x 29.5" x 16"), including the handle, pockets and wheels.

For large/bulky items, the maximum dimensions of the bag are 90cm x 75cm x 43cm (35.5" x 29.5" x 16"), including the handle, pockets and wheels.

Extra Baggage Charges: If you have more bags than free checked baggage allowance, you can pay to check in up to 10 extra bags per person with the same weight restrictions as your free allowance.

It is possible to pay for extra bags at the airport, as you check in, but these will be charged at a higher rate. Save money by paying for your extra bags using: Manage My Booking on ba.com, either at the time of booking or any time before check-in.

Overweight Baggage Charges: For any bag heavier than the free weight allowance of 23kg (51lb), you may need to pay an overweight-baggage charge. Overweight-baggage charges are payable at check-in. More than 23kg (51lb) and less than 32kg (70lb), £40 or local equivalent at check-in (US$60 from any US departure airport). Baggage over 32kg (70lb), must be shipped separately as freight or cargo.

Mobility Accommodations: You can take an unlimited number of mobility aids (wheelchairs, etc), for personal use only. These will be carried free of charge in addition to the applicable checked baggage allowance. Wheelchairs will be carried irrespective of weight. If your wheelchair weighs over 32kg (70lb) notify the airline at the time of making your booking, or contact us later but at least 24 hours before you fly.
