The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) has appointed former project manager at JAMPRO, Yvonne Hall, as its new executive director, effective May 21.

She replaces outgoing executive director, Noel G. Osbourne.

Hall brings to the BSJ extensive experience gained from working with several organizations including the Food Technology Institute, Scientific Research Council and Cornell University, as well as management experience through her work with the Caribbean Development Bank and JAMPRO, among others, according to a release issued by the Bureau.

With her expertise in research and development, analytical development and export promotion, Hall has noted that standards represent the core of business growth and management.

She said that if businesses are to be sustainable and successful, the use of standards must be consistent, the release said.

Hall said the BSJ must help in enhancing the global competitiveness of local products, even while seeking to aid in the development of standards in support of the countrys services sector.

The organization, she said, must create a delicate balance of providing service while ensuring compliance.
