Thieves plaguing Coral Gardens

Published:Tuesday | June 5, 2012 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I'm a resident of Coral Gardens, Montego Bay. Over the past year, there have been a number of motor vehicles stolen in this community. Within the month of May, approximately 10 motor vehicles were stolen.

My concern is that in light of the theft, there has been no report in any form of the media, whether print or electronic. This would assist in sensitising residents so they may protect themselves. This is imperative, as the community is obviously being targeted.

The poor response of the police is appalling, to say the least. Not enough is being done to investigate the matter in order to apprehend the perpetrators. In my opinion, there needs to be more thorough investigation of these matters because they have been happening too frequently.

I, therefore, call on the commissioner of police, Mr Owen Ellington, to follow up this matter.
