Try harder to stop crime
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Crime can be found in high and low places. Unemployment, politics and religion have contributed to this monster that has made it unsafe for decent and honest citizens.
It should be the duty of those empowered to deal with crime to seek measures to prevent commission of such illegal acts, than to inspire and manufacture them.
Most of those who are responsible for the correction of crime boast more of how many unfortunates they have convicted as a means of embellishing their reputation, than how many they have helped to take a straight path and lead useful and successful lives for themselves and society.
Let us put more effort into preventing crime rather than punishing it.
