PM for Edwin Allen dinner

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will be the guest speaker today at the Edwin Allen High School Auditorium, when the school hosts an appreciation dinner for athletes and coaches of the successful ISSA/Boys and Girls' Championships team.

After mounting serious challenges for two years in a row to nine-time champions Holmwood Technical, the Michael Dyke-coached team finally picked up their first overall championships with a decisive win over their main rivals, scoring one of the most one-sided victories ever.

Since scoring their maiden win at the championships, the school from Frankfield in Clarendon has had a golden run. A week after the championships they had some 12 members from the team representing Jamaica at the Carifta Games with majority of them, including Kimberly Williamson, Tara Sue Barnett and Marleena Eubanks, picking up gold medals.
