THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is with deep regret that I learned of the passing of Arthur Williams Sr Thursday night.

Arthur Williams Sr was one of those great, old-time politicians who was loved by everyone. His cheerful disposition and accommodating manner made him immensely popular.

Mr Williams will be remembered not only for his political contribution, but his contribution in the field of teaching.

He was also the first president of the Manchester Lay Magistrates' Association, and I know that I speak on behalf of all the lay magistrates in the parish when I say he was a man who gave great service to the country and to the community. For that, we thank him.

On behalf of us all in Manchester, I send my sincere condolences to Arthur Williams Jr and to all of his family.

May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him.
