It's time for summer camp

Wondering what to do with the children for the long, hot summer, why not send them to camp? Here are some more in our series of available summer camps this year. If you are hosting a summer camp, email me with the details at:


The Jamaica Combined Cadet Force, will this summer host 350 cadets ages 13-19 on the grounds of the Moneague training Camp from July 20-31.

Cost: J$3,500 each.

The training includes leadership and management, camp planning and implementation, drill movements, map reading, general knowledge, first aid, community service, arms, rappelling, watermanship, hiking and sports.

All friends, parents, past cadets and members of the Moneague community are invited out on Sunday July 29 for open day activities beginning at 10 a.m.

Programme Outline/Times

Kids' Club Programme

Age: 3-10 years

Time: 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 4-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

General Summer Programme

Time: 11-1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.

Times: Except for week of Tuesday, August 7-Saturday, August 11, the programme days and times remain constant as follows:

Rates and Charges:

One-hour programme at US$20 per hour x five hours = US$100 (J$8,600).

Two-hour programme at US$20 per hour x 10 hours = US$200 (J$17,200).

Four-hour programme at US$20 per hour x 20 hours = US$400 (J$34,400).

Programme Includes:

Lunch: Noon-2 p.m.

Non-residential camp/Vacation Bible School

Venue: 2 Washington Boulevard, Kingston 20

Date: August 13 to 17.

All residential camps cost $6,500 each but Vacation

Bible School is free of cost.


The Media Technology Institute, a division of the Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC) is hosting a 'Just for Teens Summer School Voice and TV Production Workshop' for children aged 13-18 years old.
