World Finance, a leading financial magazine in London, has named First Global Bank (FGB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the GraceKennedy group, the winner of the "Best Banking Group 2012" award for Jamaica.

President of FGB, Maureen Hayden-Cater, attributed the achievement to the company's strong customer relationship management and the use of technology in delivering value-added and unique services, according to a release from the bank.

She said the vote by customers and other members of the public, using World Finance's online voting facility, signalled confidence in FGB. She commended the staff whose hard work, sacrifice and commitment she said resulted in "this significant accomplishment".

According to Hayden-Cater, "the GraceKennedy mantra of 'we choose to care' is demonstrated daily in how the staff delivers exceptional and personalised service. "We go the extra mile each day and our products and services, such as our revolutionary online banking facility - Global Access and our Chequing on the Go products are examples of our commitment and determination to remain competitive in this marketplace."

FGB, a full-service commercial bank, provides a suite of banking products and services to individuals and businesses. The bank is particularly valued by its customers, for offering the kind of intimate, relationship-based, high-quality service that is associated with a smaller, boutique bank, the release said.

"FGB is best known as the commercial bank which offers the lowest interest rate on credit cards, is the only commercial bank that has branches that are open for business on Saturdays, and provides the most powerful and convenient online banking platform - Global Access, available to corporate and retail clients in Jamaica," said the release.
