LETTER OF THE DAY - Message for gays: 'Repent, and be baptised'
THE EDITOR, Sir:
"... the enemy hath said ..., Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession: (Ezek 36:2 KJV)
FROM PRIME Minister Portia Simpson Miller's cryptic response during the pre-election leadership debate, through Gordon Robinson's article 'Budget Schmudget' (The Sunday Gleaner, May 27, 2012) to the June 25 The Observer front-page article, 'Jamaican lesbians wed', it appears the prophecy has been fulfilled. With support from world leaders like Barrack Obama and David Cameron, the seeming loss of moral authority by the Church, caused by revelations of child sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church and the ordinations of homosexual bishops by the Anglican Church, victory appears complete. All we have left to do is wait until the 100 per cent dominance of biologically unproductive same-sex alliances leads to extinction of the human race.
Before the homosexuals start popping the champagne, however, listen to the words of Solomon. "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore, the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." (Eccl 8:11 KJV)
Solomon took multiple wives, married foreign nationals and built altars and temples for strange gods, all in violation of God's commands and without admonition from any godly prophet, unlike what happened to his father, David. By the time he was through, Solomon had some 300 wives and more than 700 concubines. If you take away the Israelite Sabbaths and other holy days, he would have a wife for every day of the year and enough concubines for plans B & C.
The final judge
Thankfully, Solomon came to his senses before it was too late, and I would urge homosexuals to do the same. Because, whereas Obama may be swayed by his hunt for votes, and Simpson Miller might be advised by Jamaica's need for international monetary aid and 'gay bashing', artistes such as Beenie Man and Shabba Ranks appear to have been silenced by concerns for their means of livelihood, The Lord God Almighty has no such issues. And he will be the final judge.
However, God is also merciful. Homosexuality is no less or more than any other sin and the Bible does not subscribe to the 'man fi dead' or 'gas dem an' light dem' rantings, but it is a sin and the Bible says, "Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38 KJV).
