THE EDITOR, Sir:

My recent visit to the island was made more delightful and purposeful with the just-concluded Miss Jamaica World 2012 pageant. All Jamaica will celebrate not only the diversity of the contestants this year, but the choosing of an exceptional young lady to represent Jamaica.

Deanna Robins was an exceptional choice as winner and will undoubtedly stay true to herself and represent Jamaica superbly at the upcoming Miss World pageant in Ordos, Mongolia.

Her win gives us hope that a meaningful outlook beyond the usual 'Out of Many, One People' will actually resonate in our 50th year of Independence and force all Jamaicans to see this contest and its beauty-with-a-purpose theme on a higher social perspective.

We indeed need to be more inclusive as a nation, and Deanna Robins' eloquence shows that to be possible.

In the just-concluded MJW 2012, the audience came alive and was completely wowed by Deanna. Those who supported their own favourites came on board with every appearance of this young lady and some could not even contain their joy.

The judges got it right - and now all Jamaica will jump for joy! It was also an exceptional and well-rounded top five. Well done, SPARTAN!

What more can I say of Ms Robins? She was the most complete delegate at the pageant. She is beautiful, tall and has a great body, but most important, she oozed intelligence - a product of her own life experiences and that is why she ROCKS!

I think she will do very well at MW contest, because she's got class, good looks and she comes from a racy little island. And, of course, let's not forget she will be able to 'mix it' with just about all the contestants in English, Spanish and, possibly, Mandarin!
