Lisa-Gaye Thomas met her future husband Horace Messado in 2009 when she attended her father's company's Christmas party. Her father, Winsett Thomas is head of Industrial relations at Jamaica Public Service Company where Messado is the financial controller. Thomas is currently completing her residency at Detroit Medical Hospital in Michigan in paediatrics and cardiology for paediatrics.

In November 2011, Messado surprised Thomas during dinner at their favourite restaurant The Oleander Room at Sandals Montego Bay when he proposed.

For their wedding planner Kim Stif of Trulie Yurz, her task was to recreate Cinderalla's Ball with a touch of Marie Antoinette with a colour scheme of blush, gold and Ivory. After exchanging vows at St Andrew Parish Church on Half-Way Tree Road, the couple took their wedding photos at the historic Devon House to complete the wedding theme. Reception followed at the Wyndham Kingston hotel with décor by Pussbackfoot.
