Just days after its soft opening, and already the uptown CRU is getting rave reviews from patrons who have been sampling its delights. CRU is a French wine term which traditionally translates to "growth".

Hardwood steps lead to the Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited's (CPJ) new Rooftop Lounge, dubbed CRU, along 51 Lady Musgrave Road in St Andrew. It was sheer anticipation as everyone arrived last Thursday evening to personal greetings and welcome from Tom Tyler, CEO of CPJ, and the ever-charming Dr David Lowe, its vice-president for marketing and retail trade.

Thereafter, it was all uphill as the party progressed into tiny groupings of corporate movers and shakers and diplomats discussing the week's achievements and the fabulous new venue that they could not wait to begin using in the future. Yes, this promises to be a well sought-after spot to see and be seen. It has a great location, and is easily accessible by both the uptown residents and the midtown business district.

Lowe told The Gleaner that whether for a lyme or that pre-dinner glass of wine, it will be the perfect venue. "And we stock all the preferred vintages from around the world," he said. The menu features some delectable finger foods that guests got a chance to sample. We recommend the lamb chops!

Our quick tour revealed a soon-to-be-opened private dining room with its own private entrance, sparkling clean bathrooms, some cosy nooks for those intimate gatherings and spacious area to comfortably seat 90 with standing room for some 200 persons.

Whether you prefer comfy sofas with large coffee tables or ultramodern plexi class stools or tables for two or four ... or even a seat by the well-stocked bar, CRU has it all. We see lots of deals being sealed here; the ambience is just right for popping any kind of question or just hanging out with the guys. And, don't forget those all-day seminars or meetings. Just call ahead.

CRU will be open six days a week, except Sundays, starting at 4:30 p.m. There are no meals, just the heavy appetisers on the way to the many restaurants close by. It's the perfect place to unwind and relax with friends.
