Reputed gang leader Christopher 'Dog Paw' Linton and Micah Allen, both of Bedward Gardens, Kingston 7, are to be sentenced on March 15 for illegal possession of firearm and shooting with intent.

Supreme Court judge Sarah Thompson James found them guilty yesterday of the charges.

The Crown led evidence in the Gun Court that on April 11, 2010, Linton and Allen were among a group of gunmen who shot at a police team along Tavern Drive, St Andrew.

Linton's brother, Ricardo Jones, was also charged jointly with the two men, but he was freed last month following a no-case submission by defence lawyer Dianne Jobson.

In commenting on the conviction, Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington commended the investigators and said the conviction was proof of the strong investigating capabilities that exist within the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Ellington also hailed the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, "whose sterling case management and guidance to the investigative team was crucial to securing (yesterday's) conviction".
