VCB says thanks

Embattled Jamaican sprinting star Veronica Campbell-Brown has expressed gratitude to her supporters and has acknowledged the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association Disciplinary Committee's ruling into her adverse analytical finding from the Jamaica International Invitational.

The committee this week recommended that Campbell-Brown, a three-time Olympic gold medallist, be given a public warning for the violation, after a banned substance was detected in her system at a meet on May 4.

IAAF's Review

The IAAF's Doping Review Board will examine the recommendations before ratifying or rejecting the penalty suggested by the local body.

A release issued to sections of the media by Campbell-Brown's management team, On Track Management, read: "Mrs Campbell-Brown wishes to extend her thanks to her many supporters during this difficult and upsetting period. She looks forward to resuming her illustrious career and restoring the confidence of those who have maintained their trust in her integrity.

"The Disciplinary Committee established by the JAAA has issued its ruling in the adverse analytical finding against Veronica Campbell-Brown," the release continued before once again seeking to give assurances of the athlete's innocence in the matter.

"Pursuant to our respect for the protocol, we intend to await the confirmation of the IAAF and the full acceptance that she took no substances to enhance her performance or serve as a masking agent," the release continued.

Campbell-Brown, 31, has won 16 medals for Jamaica at the Olympic and World Championships levels and is considered one of the biggest stars in the sport across the globe.
