Clarendon cops probe disappearance of fisherman and friend

THE CLARENDON police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of two fishermen who have been missing from the Portland Cottage fishing beach since last Thursday. Twenty-year-old Msomba McNeil and Prince Vernon, boat captain, were last seen on the beach shortly before daybreak on Thursday morning.

McNeil's mother said the boat her son was on was one of 10 boats that went to the Pedro Cays on Tuesday. She said all 10 came back and while they were unloading the boat on the beach, a car drove up and a boat was also spotted in close proximity to the men.

It is alleged that after both the car and boat left, the men were discovered missing.

The mother said she got a call yesterday morning that two bodies were spotted on a beach in the community. A search was carried out, but proved futile, as it was a prank call.

A desperate mother is now pleading for the safe return of her son, or any information that could lead to his discovery and that of his friend.
