Gay rights are human rights

THE EDITOR, Sir:
In response to Bruce Golding's 'Bain, gays and a battle for values' (Gleaner, May 23, 2014), human rights are universal, with no exceptions, and almost all countries being a signatory.
If you are in a public space with a public face, your responsibility is to be inclusive, instead of discriminating and stigmatising any sector of society.
If we want an equal, just world, giving people the respect and rights they deserve is necessary. You don't have to like doing it, but it's the right thing to do.
