Business in brief
Smirnoff adds new flavours
Smirnoff is placing two new confectionery flavours - Fluffed Marshmallows and Iced Cake - on the Jamaican market.
Although new in Jamaica, the two flavours debuted in the United States from 2012. Smirnoff also has at least two other confectionery flavours - Whipped Cream and Kissed Caramel.
The flavours were first introduced as exclusive products for the characters on a scripted TV show called 'Single Ladies', originally broadcast on VH1.
They join Smirnoff's other flavoured vodkas on the market, including green apple, blueberry, cherry and coconut.
CDB outlook stable - S&P
The Caribbean Development Bank's credit rating has been reaffirmed at 'AA/A-1+' by Standard & Poor's and its outlook revised from negative to stable having assessed the bank as having a strong business profile.
Contributing factors were the abatement of external liquidity pressures among some of the bank's largest borrowers and the strengthening of its risk-management structures and monitoring over the past 18 months.
"We welcome the revision in our outlook to stable and are satisfied that the measures we have taken have been successful in contributing to the improvement in outlook," said CDB President Dr Warren Smith in a statement from the bank.
"We have strengthened our risk-management structures and monitoring; further improved capital adequacy and continued with good liquidity planning. Our priority continues to be equipping ourselves to remain a strong institution which has the confidence of our partners and provides timely, effective support to our BMCs," he said.
