Montego Bay's private health-care landscape has received another bold marker with the impending construction of the US$15-million GWest Centre at Fairview Commercial Park on the city's south side.

Ground was broken Tuesday, launching the state-of-the-art medical facility that will cover 7,000 square metres, rising to a four-storey complex consisting of medical and professional centres that will offer a wide range of general and specialist services.

Conceived as an innovative addition to Jamaica's health-care offering in the west, GWest Corporation Limited, was developed by a group of Jamaican doctors and investors, including Dr Konrad Kirlew, Dr Ladi DooQuah, Wayne Gentles, Denise Samuels, Dennis Samuels and Elva Williams-Richards.

Here are some pictorial highlights of the occasion.
