Final four parishes to crown festival queens

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) will crown its final four parish queens in St Catherine, Hanover, Clarendon and St James in June. This will close the parish shows as the cultural ambassadors gear up for the National Coronation in July.

St Catherine will kick-start the Festival Queen Coronations tomorrow at the Southborough Primary School in Portmore at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are being sold at the St Catherine parish office at a cost of adults $1,000 and children under 12 years old $400.


On Saturday, June 7, Hanover will crown its Festival Queen at the Jockey Factory in Lucea at 8:00 p.m. with tickets being sold at a cost of adults $1,000 presold, $1,200 at the gate, and children under 12 years old $400.

Also on June 7, Clarendon will host its Festival Queen show at the Glenmuir High School auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are accessible at the parish office costing adults $800 presold, $1,000 at the gate and children $300.

Final Show

The final show will be held in St James at the Iberostar Hotel in Lilliput on Sunday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. with tickets being sold at adults $1,200 presold, $1,500 at the gate, and children $500. Tickets can be had at the St James parish office.

This year's competition is being staged under the theme, 'Jamaican Women ... Shaping our Culture and our Nation' and is the premier forum for intelligent, culturally aware and poised young ladies seeking a platform to make their contributions to nation building and to be selected as cultural ambassadors for Jamaica.

Parish queens receive cash awards, trophies and gift packages from sponsors which include, SoftSheen-Carson, Excelsior, Singer, VMBS, Stayfree, Gillette Venus Embrace, and It's Really Great Yogurt.
