Former champions Vaz are in front heading into today's final day of the three-day Jamaica Independent Schools Association/ Serge Island National Prep Schools Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium.

Vaz lead the standings with 39 points ahead of defending champions Hydel 35.50. They are followed by Wolmer's 30.50, Our Lady of the Angels 27.50, Quest 25, Mona 19.50, Ardenne 17.50, Portmore Missionary 15, Mavisville nine, Belair and Holy Childhood eight each, Hemmingay seven, and Sts Peter and Paul 6.50.

Yesterday Aaliyah Dryden of Hydel won the girls' Class One long jump with a leap of 4.76m ahead of Hemmingay's Soyinne Grenyion (4.67m) and Valissa Brown from Portmore Missionary (4.62m).

The 12-year-old Dryden, who was competing in the event for the first time, was surprised by her win.

"I am a bit shocked because this is the first time that I am doing this event," said Dryden." But it wasn't difficult because I am a very confident person," she added.

Onecia Sweeny of Our Lady of the Angels captured the girls' Class Two high jump with a leap of 1.25m ahead of Vaz's Malaika Cunningham, who also cleared 1.25m. However, Sweeny took home the gold medal after she cleared the mark on her first attempt. Hydel's Patricia Campbell took home the bronze with a best mark of 1.20m.
