The zinc fence has come down and members of the public can now see the full beauty of the Simon Bolivar Cultural Centre, North Parade, downtown Kingston.

The cultural centre, to be officially opened shortly, pays tribute to the Venezuelan liberator and national hero, Simon Bolivar, who resided in Jamaica in 1815.

The facility will house an interpretative museum, library, administrative block, exhibit hall and 350-seater multicultural centre.

It is expected to build on the Bolivarian concept of cultural enlightenment, offering opportunities for young children to be exposed to the cultural and performing arts.

In addition, it is expected to contribute to the economic development of the city, providing jobs for teachers and students of the arts.
