"I Monique Grey and Mario Lawrence on this day February 26, 2011 hereby solemnly swear and agree on our union as BF and GF (boyfriend and girlfriend)." Those were the words that solidified it for Grey and Lawrence, even before they made the trip down the aisle.

The lovebirds met in 2007, through their shared love of music and people. Grey told Flair, "We met while I was a radio announcer and DJ on Power 106. At the time, he was, and still is, a producer and musician."

Their first encounters took place at his music studio. There she learned that Lawrence was a very private person, and extremely focused on and devoted to his craft. "We hit it off pretty well. He was a really nice friend," she pointed out, as she recounted the days of stimulating conversation they shared while he was away touring the world. He shared amazing stories about his different experiences, and Grey, a music lover, was more than pleased to indulge, living vicariously through his musical journey.

They officially became a couple a few years later, and got engaged on Lawrence's birthday.

Birthday Proposal

Grey got all dolled up to take Lawrence out for dinner, not knowing that he had other plans up his sleeves. "I took him out to dinner as a gift to celebrate his big day, but never thought I would have been the one to receive the ultimate gift! I was so shocked I had to 'run' the waiter," recalled Grey.

After that, they got into full planning mode. "We wanted our wedding day to be as natural and as true to us as possible," Grey asserted. On March 29, 2014, they exchanged their 'I dos' in front of family members and friends, in a sea of green, accentuated by vibrant colours.

Melodious Matrimony

Before the ceremony, the groom and his groomsmen, engaged in a round of card games to calm their nerves before the big moment. In true bridal fashion, Grey was late, but in the end, it was truly worth the wait, as she looked absolutely amazing walking down the aisle in her gorgeous, pristine white gown.

"The ceremony was beautiful. We were just so happy to have our family members and friends witness and share in our matrimonial union," said Grey. "The reception was fun and filled with musical performances, many thanks to all who gave their support. As a bonus, the entertainment package included a special little duet by Mario and me."

Her multi-tiered wedding cake was a show-stopper specially designed and baked with love by her mother, Ann-Marie Toomer-Gayle.

According to Lawrence, "You will know she's the one when you try to find every reason on the planet why she shouldn't be, yet all arrows point back to her. So, I had to make her my wife." Lawrence told us. " I love you, Monique Grey, and I promise to be the man you can trust with your heart."
