Garbage misery hits Manchester

Published:Saturday | June 21, 2014 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This is a letter to protest the non-removal of garbage, happening very often in our neighbourhoods, suburbs, and towns, making our environment unhealthy.

What it means is that along my street, and many other streets, you will sometimes find bags of garbage on gateposts or rotting in garbage grilles and drums, etc, constituting pollution, especially land pollution and sight pollution.

The rats, lizards, roaches, maggots, and flies infest the uncollected garbage. No one likes the smell of decaying garbage and the fact that it becomes unsightly.

I think that for tolerable and decent sanitation, garbage removal could be done twice per week in order to prevent pile-up, the threat of disease, and discomfort. Yet the collection of garbage is often not even being done weekly. We need to be attuned to issues of public health and environment.

National Solid Waste Management Authority, will you kindly give us better service? Cleanliness is next to godliness. Respect your people. Remove garbage in the shortest time possible. NSWMA, thanks in advance. We need your services.
