Five members of the Jungle 12 gang in August Town, St Andrew, have been sentenced to eight years' imprisonment for robbery with aggravation.

They are Jeshawn Nugent, Oneil Shaw, Fabian Bennett, Oneil Miller and Dean Talbert.

The trial started in March before Justice Jennifer Straw in the Gun Court and ended earlier this month when the men were convicted.

2012 robbery

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Andrea Martin-Swaby, led evidence that in March 2012, the gang members entered the house of a resident in Jungle 12, August Town, and ransacked the premises. The resident was also beaten and robbed of several items. They threatened to kill him but he managed to escape.

Following police investigations, the five men were arrested and charged.
