The teams are using the series as part of their preparations for next month's Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 3. The Netball Jamaica selectors will also be using the series to cut the current squad of 17 players to 12.
pleased with performance
Jill McIntosh, technical director of the Sunshine Girls, was pleased with the overall performance of the team.
"I think that our defence was excellent," said McIntosh. "I thought that they held up to Barbados attackers and they forced them into a lot of errors and held balls."
The second match of the three-game series will be played today at the same venue starting at 5 p.m.
