What's the protocol for interviewing kids?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I write to express my disgust with TVJ and that reporter who interviewed that young man at school as he explained how he "rolled the dice". Did his parents authorise that interview? Was it the principal who gave permission for him to be interviewed like that? Could the reporter have disguised his face and voice?

We have all, at one point or another, done something that we are not proud of. Do we want it to frame who we become publicly? One minister admitted that he smoked ganja at one point in his life. I am sure he was not proud of it, however, he was now at a stage where he could take the hard knocks if they came.

Come on, people, these are kids experimenting. Do we want to tarnish them in the media like this? I strongly believe this is another issue for the youth minister to take on: how we interview our children for prime time and who gives permission for these interviews.
