Deplorable roads in Windsor Castle
THE EDITOR, Sir:
In 2013, the Government increased property taxes by 200 per cent, forcing my sister and I, who are senior citizens, to pay much more.
Yet, what profit do we receive for this exorbitant, unconscionable step? We still have roads in deplorable conditions, and since the devastation of Hurricane Sandy in October 2012, there is no access whatsoever to our land.
All farmers are forced to go through each other's farms in Windsor Castle. Farmers must struggle downhill with bags of produce on their heads, because no vehicle can negotiate the road. There are two farm roads in Windsor Castle that need urgent attention.
I am, therefore, appealing to Mr Roger Clarke, the minister of agriculture, to undertake remedial action, as taxpayers cannot be asked to pay more, which some can ill-afford, for less.
Why is Portland always ignored? We might not have large spreads like in St Elizabeth or St Ann, but we produce the best breadfruit, bananas and carrots.
