WESTERN BUREAU:Unbeaten Jericho Rangers will put their perfect record on the line when they take on Montpelier in the mid-season final of the Captain's Bakery and Grill Hanover FA Major League, this afternoon, at Orchard playing field, starting at 3:00.

Rangers, who have in their line-up the league's leading goalscorer, Darryl Jowery, have been in form since the league's first match, winning all five games while amassing 15 points en route to the bonus final.

They are expected to face stern opposition from Montpelier, who have been having a great run.

Their only blemish came in a 2-1 loss to Logwood in the third round. They have 12 points, making the match a must-see for football-hungry Hanoverians.

"This is promising to be a really great match because, as you may know, these are rival teams and any time they meet it's fireworks," said Craig Oates, the Hanover FA first vice-president.

"Montpelier is a stubborn side and Rangers have been going great guns so far, so the fans will be seeing great football between the league's two top teams."

Five goals in five matches

Jowery have so far scored five goals in five matches and will be called upon once more to provide the goals against Montpelier.

Meanwhile, the launch of the inaugural, eight-team Hanover FA Under-14 football league will be the precursor to the mid-season final. It starts at noon.

The eight participating teams are Bethel All-Stars, Red Square, Hopewell Chargers, Sandy Bay Primary School, Watford Primary School, Montpelier and Jericho Rangers FC.

"We are delighted that we can bring this football to the level we want it, where it will be used to develop young people. It's been a long time coming that we sought to get an Under-14 league going and we are happy to finally have it here," Oates said.
