Come on, Digicel - recall these phones
THE EDITOR, Sir:
Digicel's tag line, 'The Bigger, Better Network', is a joke.
On January 24, I purchased an Alcatel D600. The speaker went bad in April. I took the phone to Tropical Plaza where it was purchased, only to find another customer with the same problem.
After being without a my phone for 10 days, it was finally repaired.
Fast-forward to July 4 and the power button is not working. A check by my daughter on Facebook revealed a number of similar cases involving this brand.
The worst was yet to come. On July 5, I took the phone to Tropical Plaza and was told there was no user phone I could be assigned. However, I was informed that if I took the phone to the repair centre at Cargill Avenue, it might reduce the repair time.
Luckily, the repair centre had a user phone available.
Seven days later, I collected my phone.
Horror of horrors, I am writing this letter the following day and the power button is jammed again.
It's time Digicel accepts that there are serious flaws with these phones and recall them, as my next stop will be the Fair Trading Corporation.
