Mico Homecoming starts with 'Meet, Greet & Lyme'

The Mico University College, the island's oldest teacher-training institution, is all set for Homecoming 2014, which will be staged from Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27.

Organised by The Mico University College's Office for Alumni and Development under the theme, 'Celebrating the Memories ... Continuing the Legacy', Homecoming 2014 is expected to attract hundreds of Mico Alumni in Jamaica and the diaspora, as well as friends of the Mico, at several planned activities, including a fundraising fête on Saturday, July 26.

Homecoming 2014 officially kicks off with a Meet, Greet and Lyme on Thursday, July 24 at the Institute of Technology and Educational Research, beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Friday July 25, alumni and friends will be fêted to a Feast of Music at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, July 26, there will be a Beautification Day and Tree Planting project as well as a Sports and Fun Day event.

Celebrating Mico's accomplishments

Commenting on the preparations for Homecoming 2014, The Mico University College president, Professor Claude Packer said, "Our Homecoming 2014 event celebrates many aspects of The Mico. It shows what we've accomplished as a university, and what we will continue to accomplish in the future."

Sharon Bogues-Wolfe, director, alumni and development, who has responsibility for organising the event said, "We believe our upcoming Homecoming celebrations reflect the true spirit of the Mico's legacy. We are excited to be staging this event as a tribute to our institution's rich history. "

Registration cost for Homecoming 2014 is $3,800, and $3,500 for the fundraising fête at the Countryside Club. All proceeds from Homecoming 2014 will go towards the institution's scholarship and development funds.
