Goodwill football at Winchester Park

The 2014 Goodwill Tour by Lions of New York will kick off today with a triple header at Winchester Park, St George's College starting at 2 p.m.

Boys' Town Masters will play a Lion's Invitational team in the opener and at 4 p.m. Santos Masters will play Travellers of Mandeville in the second match. In the feature at 6 p.m., Constant Spring Masters will meet Lions United.

The New York-based Lions United FC, made up primarily of former Rusea's daCosta Cup players, have been making goodwill summer tours to Jamaica every year since 2002, playing games against several local teams. They will first go to the Boys' Town Infirmary at noon today to make a presentation of gifts of wheelchairs, walkers, canes and medical supplies, including blood and glucose pressure machines, to both the Boys' Town Infirmary and the Vineyard Town Golden Age Home.

After the completion of matches at 7:30 p.m. former players, coaches, and administrators will be honoured. These include Neville 'Bertis' Bell, Danny Lyn, Delano Palmer, Andrew Pryce, Ronald Smith, Leacroft Barnaby and Danny Senior.

The Lions United FC team will include Dirks Brown, Mark Heron, Eddie Sainmerville, Clifton King, Dexter Davis, Lecroft Barnaby, Norman Simms, Michael Reid and Lance Peterson. Constant Spring Masters will look to Brenton Smith, captain Kirk Williams, Raymond Smith, Fabian Watkins, Lincoln Taffe, Austin Brown, Oniel ' Chippy' McDonald, Bunny Scott, Tafari O'Connor and Craig 'Warlord' White.
