Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum's Summer Playground Fantasy (SPF) Weekend, one of the country's premier event series for the 'Emancipendence' weekend, has big plans in place for its fourth staging, to be held from August 1-4.
SPF Weekend 2014 has four marquee events: the SPF: Cat Cruise 21, BNM: Eye Candy, Fiction: Beach, and Soirée: SPF-03. The event series will also be hosting the SPF: Pool Lyme and Sponsors Village, at the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa.
SPF: Cat Cruise 21 will kick off the party series with an Island Routes-facilitated catamaran cruise party on August 1. Later that night, the electronic dance music (EDM)-influenced BNM: Eye Candy will be held. This event takes place at the historic Cary Island property, with international model Aisha Thalia serving as its host.
BNM: Eye Candy has an 'ice candy' theme, which will be personified in ice sculptures throughout the venue and promotional models in 'ice-hot' inspired outfits.
On August 2, Fiction: Beach, moves to its new home, Sunset Beach, White River. DJ York, from the United States, will be the international disc jockey for the event, and he specialises in EDM music. In addition to DJ York, DJ Cruise and DJ Lank will also be providing musical selections for the event. The Couples San Souci culinary team will be catering at Fiction: Beach.
Soirée: SPF-03 is the anchor event for SPF Weekend 2014, and for the first time in its four-year history will have the Bay Beach Club as its host venue. For this party, patrons will experience the catering of award-winning culinary chef Brian Lumley, proprietor of 689 by Brian Lumley. DJ Kyle DeSouza is the international music selector for this event, with DJ Jazzy T from Renaissance and DJ Kurt Riley also on the bill.
Speaking on the party series, SPF Weekend Chairman Mark Lindo said, "Summer Playground Fantasy Weekend has become a vital player in raising the bar for Jamaica's lifestyle entertainment scene. Each year, we ensure that the ante is upped for our events, as we believe that partygoers deserve an upmarket option for the holidays during Emancipendence weekend.
"We take our role in providing premium entertainment seriously, as we cater to Jamaicans and international tourists alike, who use SPF Weekend as a measuring stick for the professionalism of Jamaican event planning at its optimum level," Lindo added.
