Jamaica going all out for victory

Oral Simpson, coach of Jamaica, says his team will be going all out to secure victory when they play Trinidad and Tobago today at Elletson Road in the penultimate round of the West Indies Under-15 Championship.

Jamaica, having amassed two wins and a loss so far, are presently second in the six-team tournament with 12.9 points.

Trinidad and Tobago, in the meanwhile, has a similar win-loss record, but are third on 12.4 points, largely due to having less bowler bonus points.

Guyana, with three wins from as many matches, currently lead the standings with 18.6 points.

Guyana will play the Windwards at the University of The West Indies and Barbados will battle against the Leeward Islands at Melbourne in the day's other matches.

England on 247-2

SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP):

England captain Alastair Cook was dismissed on 95, an agonising five runs short of his first century in 14 months, as the hosts finished day one of the third Test against India on 247-2 at the Rose Bowl yesterday. Cook got the faintest of touches to a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja and India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni took the catch. Gary Ballance then brought up his century off 189 balls, when he cut Mohammed Shami for four. Ballance finished on 104 not out.

Red Steel win

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel defeated St Lucia Zouks by nine wickets in the 15th game of the Caribbean Premier League at Queen's Park Oval yesterday.

Scores: ST LUCIA ZOUKS 136 for nine off 20 overs (Darren Sammy, 46 not out; Roelof van der Merwe, 21; Samuel Badree, 2-13); TRINIDAD & TOBAGO RED STEEL 137 for one off 14.4 overs (Evin Lewis, 77; Kevin O'Brien, 55 not out).
