Henry beaten in Round of 16

Badminton player Gareth Henry matched his historic Round of 16 appearance from 2010, but could make no further progress in the men's singles tournament, falling 7-21, 7-21 to Singapore's Derek Wong at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow yesterday.

Diver Yona Knight-Wisdom finished 11th in the men's 3m springboard final at the Royal Commonwealth Pool with a score of 360.9.

It was a day of mixed results for Jamaica's table tennis representatives at the Scotstoun Sports Campus, with the women's doubles team of Yvonne Foster and Shenique Clare proving too strong for Ghana's Cynthia Kwabi and Celia Baah-Danso 3-11 in their round one contest, but later went down 3-0 to England's Joanne Drinkall and Kelly Sibley by a 3-0 margin in their second round match-up.

Simon Tomlinson and Kane Watson also went down in men's singles first round action, both losing 4-1 to Sri Lanka's Rohan Sirisena and Cyprus' Marios Yiangou respectively.

In squash, Chris Binnie and Bruce Burrowes lost 2-0 to England's Adrian Grant and Nick Matthew in men's doubles round of 16 action also at Scotstoun.

Cyclist Bianca Hernould clocked 55:32.10 in finishing 31st in the women's individual time trial. The Jamaican ended 13:06.64 minutes behind winner, New Zealand's Linda Villumsen, 42:25.46.
