Who let the dogs out? City in disgrace!
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am mindful of the fact that homeless persons have taken up residence in a very prominent place in the city, in front of the Supreme Court in downtown Kingston. Now with this new migration, packs of dogs have followed suit.
On my arrival in downtown Kingston one day at 6 a.m., I was in a state of disbelief at the number of dogs roving the streets, with no one in control. Now where are the city clerks and parish councillors who are responsible for the maintenance of Kingston.
Let's be realistic about this matter: There is no reason for any dog to be loose in the city, much less to having many packs of dogs moving around freely. In the event of an outbreak of rabies among these animals, we would have a dangerous situation on hand.
Prevention is better than cure, and something needs to be done about this situation immediately. Remember, these animals are under no form of control, and reproduction is taking place freely.
The authorities should act now. Don't wait for something tragic to happen.
