On Wednesday the Marleys through their 1Love Foundation, announced a new partnership with ice-cream maker Ben & Jerry's to roll out a new flavour in honour of Bob Marley.

The famous ice-cream brand is releasing Satisfy My Bowl, a banana flavour, combined with caramel and cookie swirls, and finished off with milk chocolate peace signs.

It will go on sale across the United Kingdom in major supermarkets and scoop counters on September 15.

The sale proceeds will go to the 1Love Foundation and other charities as stated on the website.

official launch in October

The new flavour is slated for official launch in October in the UK at the upcoming show, The Legend Session, where emerging artistes from around the country will be invited to submit their original music.

The frozen treat release coincides with the 30th anniversary of Marley's album, Legend.

The 1Love blog describes Ben & Jerry's as a "socially conscious ice-cream maker" which "wants to pay tribute to a man who dedicated his life to bringing people together through music."

On, one individual has launched a petition for the flavour to be made available for retail in the United States and not in the UK only.

"I think we can all agree that this is a big mistake, and so we need to take action. With that in mind, I've started this petition, and once we get 5,000 signatures I'm going to email it to Ben & Jerry's and try to convince them to make it a global flavour," the petitioner said.
