Cops' salaries withheld

The Police High Command has withheld the salaries of 94 members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), who it says have failed to submit information to the Government's E-Census project.

The project, which has faced numerous delays, is a part of the public-sector modernisation efforts under Jamaica's programme with the International Monetary Fund.

In a statement to members of the force, the High Command said it started the police aspect of the project last year.

But, according to the statement, despite numerous attempts, the project is still incomplete due to what the High Command calls the failure or refusal of members to provide required information.

The High Command said the salaries of the 94 JCF members would be withheld until they have personally provided all the outstanding information to the Police National Computer Centre.
