International pastor’s lawyer to seek bail

Attorney-at-law Michael Erskine, who is one of the lawyers representing the international pastor arrested on allegations of engaging in sexual activities with two teenaged girls in Jamaica, says he will be seeking bail for his client.

Reverend Dr. Paul Lewis was remanded yesterday when he appeared in the Sav-la-mar Resident Magistrates Court in Westmoreland.

Mr. Esrkine says he will be making a bail application in the Supreme Court next week.

He says the judge denied the bail application in light of the seriousness of the case, among other reasons.

Mr. Erskine says he expects to be given the judge’s written submission for refusing to grant the pastor bail.

Meanwhile the attorney says Reverend Lewis’ arrest has taken a toll on the pastor’s health. Reverend Lewis is facing carnal abuse and indecent assault charges.

He’s to return to court on July 7.
