The police in Westmoreland have released a man who was taken into custody last week in connection with the shooting of a policeman in St. James.

The police released Fabian ‘Bugs Crime’ Sawyers yesterday, who was a suspect in the shooting and was wanted for questioning.

He was captured during a police operation last week Friday.

According to the police, there is not enough evidence to link him to the shooting.

However, the police are questioning three other persons who have been held in connection with the incident.

Corporal Peter Salkey, Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) Liaison Officer for St. James and Junior McKenzie, an officer at the Bethel Town Seventh Day Adventist Church, were attacked as they locked up the church in Westmoreland last week.
