US soldier charged
A United States soldier has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the killing of an Iraqi man near Kirkuk in Iraq, last year.
A military jury in Hawaii found Army Specialist, Christopher Shore not guilty of third-degree murder, but guilty of the lesser charge.
According to BBC reports, the soldier’s squad leader, Sergeant Trey Corrales, has been charged with premeditated murder for the killing.
Shore said Sergeant Corrales ordered him to fire at the Iraqi, who was suspected of firing at a US helicopter.
The soldier could face eight years in jail, a dishonourable discharge and a drop to the army\'s lowest pay grade.
