First murder in St. Elizabeth

A 28 year old man became the first victim of gun crime in St. Elizabeth last night after he was shot dead and another man shot and injured at a dance at Wilton District in the parish.



Dead is Marlon Mofley, of Wilton District and Lucea in Hanover, while the injured man has been admitted to hospital in stable condition.



According to police, the two men were patrons at a dance at Wilton, approximately three miles from Santa Cruz, when the two gunmen armed with high powered weapons opened fire on them, and ran in nearby bushes.



Mr. Mofley was shot in the head and abdomen and died on the spot, while the other man was hit in the leg.



The Santa Cruz police are to establish a motive for the shooting.
