World Junior champion Ramone McKenzie and World Youth bronze medallist Yohan Blake are among 70 athletes selected to represent Jamaica at the 2008 CARIFTA Games on Easter weekend.

The games will take place in Basseterre, St Kitts from March 22 to 24.

Blake, the national junior 100-metre record holder, won Saturday’s Boys’ Under-20 event at the CARIFTA Trials in a fast 10.28 at the National Stadium.

McKenzie also scored a good win in the 200 metres at the Trials. He clocked 20.69 seconds, to win ahead of Nikel Ashmeade.

Blake, McKenzie and Ashmeade are among 19 Under-20 Boys on the team.

Among the females are Carrie Russell, Jura Levy, Natoya Goule and Shana-Gaye Tracey who head the Under-20 section.

The Under-17 section includes 15 girls and 16 boys.

Jamaica won 76 medals in the Turks and Caicos Islands last year to top the medal table. It was Jamaica’s 23rd consecutive victory.
