The opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP) is to announce if it will contest the March 27 by-election in the All Saints East and St. Luke constituency.

The seat became vacant following the death of Agriculture Minister, Charlesworth Samuel.

Chairman of the Antigua Labour Party, Gaston Browne told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that a decision was made last weekend and an announcement will be made soon.

Mr Browne said there are still some internal issues that the party is dealing with.

Last week, the governing United Progressive Party (UPP) launched its campaign after trade unionist Chester Hughes was announced as its candidate.

Candidates expecting to contest the by-election are to submit nomination papers by tomorrow.
