The country’s national knockout football competition, the Champions Cup, will kick off on Tuesday, March 18 with the City of Kingston Co-operative Credit Union (COK) as the new title sponsors.

The competition, which will be known as the COK/Champions Cup, has attracted a sponsorship deal of $3.2 million.

COK replaces Red Stripe, which total sponsorship last year saw the winning team getting $650,000.

The winner of this year’s competition will receive $300,000, while the beaten finalist is guaranteed $200,000.

The announcement came during a Press Conference hosted at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) yesterday.

Defending champions Portmore United will enter the competition at the second round.

Six premiership teams will be in action on the opening day.
