West Indies selectors have dumped Jamaican batsman Brenton Parchment and Trinidad and Tobago’s captain Daren Ganga for the opening Test against Sri Lanka, starting next Saturday in Guyana.

Jamaican Marlon Samuels, who is currently under a cloud of allegations surrounding match-fixing, secured a place in the 15-man squad.

The squad also includes two Jamaican fast bowlers, Jerome Taylor and Darren Powell.

The selectors have rewarded rookie spin bowlers Sulieman Benn and Amit Jaggernauth with places in the squad.

Former skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan makes a comeback after a series of injuries, while left-hander Ryan Hinds returns after a three-year exile.

There are three openers, captain Chris Gayle, Sewnarine Chattergoon and Devon Smith.
