The first week of Open Heart surgeries conducted last week on children suffering from various heart diseases has been deemed a success by the chain of Hope Medical team in Jamaica.

Administrator of the Chain of Hope Jamaica chapter, Natasha Russell said that between Tuesday and Friday, the medical team visiting from the United Kingdom successfully operated on four of six children.

Miss Russell said that with improved technology, the doctors were able to use X-ray to do corrections to heart problems being experienced by some children.

The doctors are expected to conduct surgeries on 35 children by April 11.
