PSOJ optimistic about new budget
The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) said it is optimistic about the new budget to be presented next week.
During a national broadcast last night, Prime Minister Bruce Golding promised that the budget would represent hope for Jamaicans.
He admitted that the government is finding it difficult to finance the promises it made before the September general elections.
Mr. Golding cited rising oil prices, the looming recession in the United States among the contributing factors.
He said a team from the finance ministry has crafted a budget that will enable the country to meet challenges ahead.
The president of the PSOJ, Christopher Zacca said the Prime Minister made a good decision to inform the Jamaicans about the limitations to the Budget.
Mr. Zacca said he does not expect the new budget to address all the desires of the Private Sector, but there are certain priorities that should be fulfilled.
